Text Box: Responsibilities – Forest Adventure / Client Forest Adventure Policy – A responsible ‘adult leader’ (18 years or over) must accompany all Youth groups. The activity session will not proceed until an adult leader representing the client (school/youth organisation) is present. That representative must remain throughout the activity period and be aware of their responsibilities. Adult Leader Responsibility (client representative) At all times the Adult leader is responsible for the behaviour of the young people It is the Adult Leaders responsibility to ensure that young people arrive at the activity venue wearing the correct clothing - clothing requirements supplied with booking confirmation It is the Adult leaders responsibility to ensure that young people arrive at the activity venue with any prescribed medication i.e. asthma inhalers, diabetic insulin etc. During the session the Adult leader maybe required to assist the Instructor with the management of the group e.g. whilst walking over difficult terrain to a venue. Instructor Responsibility Instructors in charge are specifically invested with the responsibility for maintaining appropriate standards of health, safety and welfare. Instructors in charge will endeavour to ensure that appropriate health, safety and welfare advice is provided and complied with. Participant Responsibility It is vital to emphasize that participant health, safety and welfare during an activity will not be the sole responsibility of the Instructor in charge. Participants have a responsibility for their own health, safety and welfare. Importantly, participants must adhere to all instructions given by the Instructor in charge. Instructors will always be empowered, if participants fail to comply due to: Behaviour not conducive to the activity or other participants Behaviour that is likely to cause injury to themselves, other participants or Instructors or damage to equipment or property. To arrange for that participant to a) leave the activity, b) modify the activity or c) cancel the activity. Parent / Guardian Responsibility There is a responsibility placed on parents/guardians to ensure that as far as is reasonably practicable, participants take responsibility as aforementioned. All our activities are run by experienced and fully qualified instructors. Safety is adhered to at all times, and appropriate safety equipment supplied for each activity. ARCHERY All these sessions are led by a qualified Archery Instructor of the Grand National Archery Society. CANOEING AND KAYAKING At a minimum, all these sessions are led by a British Canoe Union Level 2 or Level 3 Coach. CAVING At a minimum, all these sessions are led by a Local Cave Leader or Caving Instructor (National Caving Association). MOUNTAIN BIKING At a minimum, all these sessions are led by a holder of the Mountain Bike Leaders Award (English Schools Cycling Association) or equivalent. ORIENTEERING At a minimum, all these sessions are led by an Instructor with a British Orienteering Federation Award. ROCK CLIMBING AND ABSEILING At a minimum, all these sessions are led by an Instructor with a Single Pitch Supervisor Award.
